Rino Fara

RINO FARA  (July 8, 1931 - November 30, 2006) - Biography by his son Massimo

Born in Rosignano Monferrato, where he spent his entire life, he married on September 16, 1961 Rosanna Ferrarsi. Then, Antonella and Massimo were born.
When he was young, he worked for some years at Barbero Cementi and then he devoted himself entirely to agriculture. In winter, he worked at the Distillery in Rosignano as steam distiller. In addition to love for his own land, he also worked for other farmers.
He cultivated mushrooms within the abandoned stone quarries, transporting horse manure (necessary for the mushrooms substrate) with his first ‘Pasquali’ tractor.
Despite the premature loss of his wife Rosanna, he knew how to react and dedicate himself to his family, by growing his children and continuing to work until the last day, surrounded by his three nieces.

IN MEMORY OF RINO - Funeral Oration by Damaso Caprioglio

Today, our small but great family of Colma has lost Rino, a great son. Rino was a quiet example, but important in our community.
St. Paul says that we must be able to witness the Gospel to be a true Christian. Throughout his life, Rino has been able to do it, firstly, with his hard work in the changing seasons and crops; he was a careful husband and father, tireless in educating his children, growing them according the ethical and religious principles. He respected the family roots, as a brother, irreplaceable at the time of pain that struck his young sister: he gave her a great material help, but also moral and spiritual.
As a grandfather, he knew how to be tender toward the grandchildren. He knew how to give prompt and selfless friendship to all members of our community for the conduct of the campaign, precious suggestions arisen from many decades of work and clever observation.

He was a great man, honest, devoted to his beloved land, always available to grow it, improve it and make it more and more luxuriant.
He knew how to react in the face of adversity: natural disasters, hail, drought or too rainy periods that destroyed many crops, crops from a whole year of work. He found the courage and strength to react with a new stubbornly hard work for the following crops. The more serious and painful proof was the loss of his beloved and even young Rosanna, repeating ‘Lord Fiat voluntas tua’ and pouring more energy on his own children.

He was a friend, from childhood up until today, but it was especially in the last 15 years that I could enjoy his precious and irreplaceable friendship. Latins said Vera scientia est celare scientia, true wisdom is knowing how to hide wisdom. Behind his simplicity and confidentiality, Rino hid a great power of observation, intelligence, not only for the cultivation and care of the country, but also for many other matters. He did everything with great humility, the word "humility" comes from humus, which means ground.
Rino had numerous qualities: freshness, authenticity, simplicity, spontaneity, honesty and clarity. I am sure that today, the Lord has given him the care of a new vineyard, the one of eternal and spiritual wine, up there, on Saturday without sunset, as a prize for his work.
And we can say with St. Augustine: "Those who we have loved, but we have lost, are no longer where they were, but they are always with us"
.

Dear Rino your spirit will always be with us.
